Welcome
Blocked Visitor#

For those of you who are
having your attachments deleted or "blocked" by Outlook, taking the following
steps should solve the problem. It is really spelled out – step by step –
but it will be much easier if you print it out... This is a re-print from
Microsoft's and Iomega's "Knowledgebase," respectively (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290497&Product=ol2002).
If you have Outlook,
keep reading. If you have "Outlook Express," click
here.
If you want to skip all this, you
can pick up your email attachments at:
www.mail2web.com You
will be asked only for your email address, and your password.
However, you must do this before checking your mail through Outlook.
Better to do the following, which will fix the problem once and for all...
Exit every program
that you might be in, until you are at your desktop (or what your computer looks
like when it first powers up).
- Click Start, and then click Run.
-
In the Run dialog box, type
regedit, and then click
OK. You will be in the "Registry Editor."
- Before doing anything, hit the left arrow on your
keyboard until the only item left in the left panel is "My Computer."
We are going to look for something called
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security
Here is how:
- Hit the right arrow. Hit the down arrow until
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
is highlighted.
- Hit the right arrow. Hit the down arrow (or the
letter S) until
Software
is highlighted.
- Hit the right arrow. Hit the down arrow (or the
letter M) until
Microsoft
is highlighted.
- Hit the right arrow. Hit the down arrow (or the
letter O) until
Office
is highlighted.
(If it doesn't exist, highlight Microsoft again, the
click Edit, New, Key in the Menu Bar above, type in
Office and hit Enter.)
- Hit the right arrow. Hit the down arrow (or the
number 1) until
10.0
is highlighted.
(If it doesn't exist, highlight Office again, the
click Edit, New, Key in the Menu Bar above, type in
10.0 and hit Enter.)
- Hit the right arrow. Hit the down arrow (or the
letter O) until
Outlook
is highlighted.
(If it doesn't exist, highlight 10.0 again, the click
Edit, New, Key in the Menu Bar above, type in Outlook
and hit Enter.)
- Hit the right arrow. Hit the down arrow (or the
letter S) until
Security
is highlighted.
(If it doesn't exist, highlight Outlook again, the
click Edit, New, Key in the Menu Bar above, type in
Security and hit Enter.)
- With Security
highlighted, click the Edit, New, and String Value
in the Menu Bar above.
-
Should
you see a value in the right pane that says Level1Remove, jump to Step 14.
Otherwise:
Type
(or copy and paste) the following name for the new value:
Level1Remove
- Press ENTER.
- Right-click
Level1Remove
in the right panel, and then click
Modify.
- Copy and paste (or type) the following into the text box:
.exe;.bat;.zip;.hlp;.lnk;.mdb
If you typed it, don't forget the periods and semi-colons
(no shift)
If you are really having problems typing
– or copying and pasting – the really important one is
.exe --
You can just do that one...
- Click OK.
- Exit the
Registry Editor.
- Restart your computer.
Finished
(for Outlook)
!!
